Nicole Goodyear

Nicole was born and raised in South Louisiana and graduated from UNO with a BS in Marketing & Management. Nicole has been in the insurance industry for the past 15 years, with her primary focus on the Medicare Market. She began her career as a Sales Agent with Humana in 2008. Her time at Humana allowed her to develop sales and networking skills and create a client referral base. She worked closely in the community on events held for seniors hosted by various vendors (Ochsner, East Jefferson, and Walmart).

Nicole left Humana in 2012 to start her own Medicare Insurance Agency with a partner. Nicole saw a unique opportunity in the industry to focus on training agents and helping them market themselves compliantly and successfully on their own. By building a business model to fulfill these needs, this Agency soon became a major liaison between the Insurance Carriers and Independent Agents. As the Agency grew and as new plans came into the market, Nicole continued to expand agent outreach and organize carrier contracts.

 

One plan specifically was BCBSLA’s BlueAdvantage plan, where Nicole and team spent time training their agents and participating in their annual statewide rollout meetings. Similar relationships formed working alongside other carriers in the Louisiana market (People’s Health, Coventry/Aetna, UHC, WellCare) where the agency would contract agents, conduct training, maintain compliance, provide marketing guidance, and generate sales goals. 

 

By 2019, the Agency had five offices and 175+ agents statewide and had obtained FMO status in the industry. However, 2019 was also a year of challenges for Nicole; due to personal reasons in the fall of 2019, Nicole sold her half of the Agency in late summer of 2021.

In spring of 2023, Nicole decided that she was ready to take on a new opportunity with JJL&W Insurance Consulting Firm, LLC to expand their Medicare division and bring more insurance options to JJL&W clients and agent partners.
