Over the course of John's 10-year career in Voluntary Benefits, he has worked for a national voluntary benefits carrier and several local insurance agencies in the Louisiana market. After working at Aflac for over 2 years as a Sales Associate that covered the entire state of Louisiana, John left in 2014 and began working with a few local insurance agencies to enhance their clients' benefit packages by strategically implementing voluntary benefits.

In 2019, John started "The Varnado Group, LLC." By starting his own, independent firm, John is not tied to one insurance carrier and is able to work with any voluntary benefits carrier in the country, so that he can find the best benefit and rate available for our mutual clients. John is licensed and appointed with over 20 insurance carriers for all lines of coverage including, but not limited to, accident, cancer, critical illness, hospital indemnity, short-term disability, long-term disability, term, whole and universal life.

In 2020, John moved into the Baton Rouge office with the JJL&W team where he continues to handle all voluntary benefits for their mutual clients. By working in the same office and having a single point of contact, our team is able to provide a more holistic and streamlined approach to packaging benefits.
